gabehorn:

(Here’s my justification of this shit backtracking writing because I love everything that comes after this scene)

Can you imagine how many times Dean has heard some version of this from John? Bobby? Everyone? Dean has wanted to stop fighting his entire life. He’s always been made to keep going, whether he wanted to or not. To him, giving up is weakness. To him, it’s not fair Cas gets to give up and throw in the towel when he never got to. So he does the only thing he can. He lashes out, fed up, tired, wishing he could do the same to avoid his problems. But he can’t, so no one else should, either.

30 days of wincest - Day 2 Favorite quote -> “You are my […] brother. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you”

I love this quote because it shows who they really are and what they actually do. In spite of  all the shit that happened to them, all this apocalypse, angels, demons, satans, yellow-red-black-eyed guys, they are just two brothers who love each other, and protect each other, who keep each other human and happy.
They have done small things, that ones that ordinary people won’t even notice, like sharing the last of Lucky Charms, spending Christmas together, breaking the father’s rules. Not because someone’s in danger, but because your brother is sad, or having a bad day, or just because you want to make him happy.

They were doing enormous things, things that I hope no one else in the world will have to deal with, like selling your soul for your brother’s life or fighting with your inner self because you have no other choice, because you know you can’t leave your brother alone.
And there are things I can’t even wrap my mind around. They are ready to kill, to be killed, to steal, to suffer for centuries, to screw all the human rules of behavior, all the nature course of events. They can forgive each other for something that can’t be forgiven, forget the lie, the betrayal, accept the shortcomings. They are more than happy to do anything for each other.
It’s not just empty words, you know. And it scares me (and I am sure it scares them as well), because there are really no limits, no boundaries, no rules in the list of things they are ready to do for each other. But it’s also the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.

"I think there’s an enormous amount of guilt that Dean carries around for many things. That’s just a part of who he is and what keeps him running. It’s his cross to bear. The guilt of losing his father, the guilt of losing Bobby, the guilt of not being able to protect his brother all the time. When all those things add up, life is pretty grim for Dean. But yet he’s still able to smile and turn on the radio and eat cheeseburgers. He’s got that vulnerability about him and that strength about him. That’s what makes him such a great character to play. I think that Dean needs that burden [of being a big brother and hero] in his life to validate him. I think he gravitates towards the painful version of himself and takes on the heavy responsibility because it makes him who he is."  - Jensen Ackles - jibcon 2012
